No W7 32-bit Driver for Kabylake: Intel Advises Only 64-bit W7 Hotfix
Intel Confirms Setback for Skylake and Kabylake Processors
In a recent announcement, Intel has confirmed that Windows 7 32-bit users with Skylake or Kabylake processors will not have an available driver for their ACPI Driver.
Limited Support for 64-bit Users
Intel advises that only Windows 7 64-bit users can install a hotfix to support the ACPI Driver. This hotfix is not compatible with the 32-bit version of Windows 7.
To resolve this issue, users must upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit and install the provided hotfix. After installation and restart, the device details in Device Manager will show "ACPIMSFT0101" (Figure 1).
This corresponds to the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
Conclusion
This news comes as a major setback for Windows 7 32-bit users who rely on Skylake or Kabylake processors. Without an available driver, they will not be able to fully utilize their hardware's capabilities. Intel's decision to limit support for this specific configuration highlights the importance of staying up-to-date with the latest hardware and software releases to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.
